FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered.

How long does an opened tin stay fresh?
Keep it cool and closed. Once opened, drink it within a month or so.
Do I need a chasen to make matcha?
It helps. A chasen creates the dense foam that defines a properly whisked bowl. A handheld milk frother is a workable substitute.
How is Okumidori different from Hikari and Shōgun?
Okumidori is our single-cultivar matcha from Yame: very nutty, with a toasted sesame aftertaste and no bitterness. It is softer on umami than Hikari and Shōgun, which come from our Uji tea house. Hikari is the sweeter, brighter one. Shōgun is the boldest, with the deepest umami.
Can I make lattes with Okumidori?
Yes. Whisk 2 to 3g with 60ml of water at about 80°C until frothy, then top up with 150 to 200ml of milk.
Where is the matcha shipped from?
We pack and ship every order from our London studio. Royal Mail 48 within the UK. Free on orders over £40, otherwise £1.50.
